• Kolkata braces for weekend rain, temperatures hold steady in south Bengal

    Kolkata received rain in some pockets on Saturday and it is expected to last till the weekend, said the Met office. Rainfall since Friday amounted to 0.2 meters in the city, recording 93% humidity.

    The city recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius with night temperature at 20.3 degrees Celsius.

    Light rain and thunderstorm with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purab and Paschim Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, Purab and Paschim Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia districts over the weekend.

    Thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur over south Bengal districts from Tuesday.

    Purulia is expected to remain constant at 29 degrees Celsius during the day, with night temperature dropping to 12 degrees Celsius. The weather office said that the maximum temperature in Bankura, Bishnupur, Burdwan, Sriniketan and Baharampur will be around 26-28 degrees Celsius, and minimum temperature will be between 14-16 degrees Celsius.

    Darjeeling is set to receive rain next week with minimum temperature at 4 degrees Celsius, the Met department said. Minimum temperature in Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Coochbehar, will be around 8-10 degrees Celsius.
