Kolkata: Cops arrested Dip Mondal, prime suspect of a murder at Sonarpur, on Sunday. Laltu Hazra (26), who was shot from close range at a friend’s house at Sonarpur, was killed due to mistaken identity, said the police.
On November 5, Mondal had an altercation with Biswajit Sarkar whom the accused and his friends had threatened with dire consequences. This gang had entered the Sonarpur house to attack Biswajit. But they ended up shooting Hazra as Sarkar was not at home. Cops said that the victim used to come and stay at the house of his friend, a lawyer.
“A revolver has been seized from Mondal. Efforts are on to arrest others,” said an officer.
