  • KOLKATA: The driver of an oil tanker died in a tragic incident after his vehicle collided with a parked truck and caught fire in central Kolkata on Wednesday morning, according to the police.

    The accident took place at around 5am on Chittaranjan Avenue in the Mohammed Ali Park area.

    A senior officer stated that the driver lost control of the tanker due to a suspected tire burst.The flames were extinguished by ten fire tenders after an hour-long effort. The driver's charred body was recovered from the tanker.

    "The fire was devastating, and some nearby shops were also partially damaged," the police officer said.

    As a result of the accident, traffic on the vital road connecting the north and south parts of the city was diverted.
