  • As the city braces for a warm week, Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 31 degree Celsius on Monday, with the maximum and minimum humidity levels reaching 83% and 43%, respectively, the weather department said.

    The temperature in most parts of Bengal have reached 30 degrees Celsius this month, an official said. The maximum temperature in Purulia, Bishnupur, Bankura, Burdwan and Midnapore, is expected to remain between 30-32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 16-17 degrees Celsius.

    Nearly all parts of south Bengal, including North and South 24 Parganas, Purab and Paschim Midnapore, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, Purab and Paschim Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia are likely to receive light rain along with thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) from Tuesday.

    Meanwhile, with rise in temperatures in north Bengal, Darjeeling recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, which is comparatively higher than last week, and a maximum of 16 degrees Celsius during the daytime.

    In Kalimpong, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 21 and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively.

    According to the weather report, no major changes are expected in the night temperatures during the next five days. Light rain and thunder is likely to occur in parts like Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, North and South Dinajpur and Malda on Tuesday.
