DIGHA: A newly married woman from Bihar jumped off the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Digha on Wednesday night. The woman, Radha Kumari Mishra, has been admitted to hospital with severe injuries on her head and other parts. Police are questioning her husband, Navneet Pandey.
Police said Radha and Navneet, residents of Jamui district in Bihar, got married a few months ago.The couple had gone to Digha for their honeymoon. Around 9pm on Wednesday, the two had a fight, following which Radha jumped off the balcony of the hotel they were staying in, police said. Navneet told police he had tried to stop her and had also held her hands, but could not prevent her fall.
A police team, on reaching the spot, had taken to the woman to Digha State General Hospital where she was administered primary treatment and then, referred to Kanthi Mahakuma Hospital. Doctors said the woman had sustained severe injuries on her and other parts of the body.
Radha told police from the hospital bed: "We got married recently and my husband works as a clerk at a college. We came to Digha for honeymoon and put up at the hotel. We had a fight at night and I lost my temper and jumped off the hotel's balcony."
