Bengal man attacked by rooster during cockfight, dies

JAMALPUR (East Burdwan): A man died during a cockfight at a rural fair in Jaugram's Jaleshwartala on Friday, after being attacked by a rooster. As 31-year-old Sunil Baskey sat with his rooster, waiting for his turn, a competitor bird attacked him and injured his leg. Bleeding, he was taken to Anamoy hospital and then Burdwan Medical College where he was declared dead.Baskey was a resident of Memari's Borar village
A relative of Baskey told TOI: "As the blade tied to the rooster's leg slashed Sunil's right leg, he started to bleed profusely and lost consciousness. We rushed him to the hospital but couldn't save him."
While the organiser of the Shivratri mela said they didn't know about the incident,SDPO (Sadar) Abhishek Mondal said no complaint had been lodged by Baskey's family.
