Kolkata: The Primary Education Development Board on Sunday held a prize distribution programme at Derozio Hall of Presidency College. A total of 130 students were each handed over scholarships of Rs 1,200 and certificates while 679 kids were awarded a Rs 600 scholarship each. The first three students - Adhya Mullick, Anudipta Khan Saitika Maity - have been awarded a scholarship of Rs 1,200 each with certificates and bronze medals.
Jadavpur University’s pro-vice chancellor Amitava Dutta was the chief guest. Dignitaries like Miratun Nahar, Tarun Naskar, Tapan Samanta, Bigyan Bera were also present. This year, the board conducted scholarship exams for students in class VI in Bengali, English, maths and science. A total of 1.5 lakh students appeared for the exams from 2,200 centres across Bengal.
