BSF nabs two Indians in South Dinajpur over smuggling cough syrup into Bangladesh

Two alleged Indian smugglers were caught by the BSF from different locations in South Dinajpur district on Tuesday.
Sources said the 91st battalion of the BSF posted at Hamjapur border outpost intercepted Akram Ali, 25, while he was allegedly trying to smuggle cough syrup into Bangladesh. Fifty bottles of cough syrup, Indian currencies and a cellphone were seized from him.
Personnel of the same battalion posted at the Domutha border outpost on the Bangladesh border nabbed Moslem Ali while he was moving in a "suspicious" manner on a motorbike.
The BSF personnel searched the two-wheeler and found 199 bottles of cough syrup hidden in it. Akram and Moslem — both residents of South Dinajpur district — have been handed over to Gangarampur police.
Liquor seized
The state excise department's Kalimpong circle on Wednesday seized Indian-made foreign liquor and beer, manufactured in Sikkim and meant for sale in Bengal.
