• CM Mamata Banerjee hospitalized at SSKM, undergoes MRI

  • KOLKATA: Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was admitted to SSKM hospital around 7.30 pm with an injury on her forehead. The photograph of the CM that was released on the X handle of All India Trinamool Congress - showed blood oozing out from her forehead.

    The AITC post released around 8 pm said "Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury.Please keep her in your prayers."Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee brought her to the hospital. A huge crowd reached the hospital as soon as the news of her hospitalization spread.

    The CM was admitted to Woodburn Ward of SSKM and then an MRI and CT Scan was conducted on her for which she was taken in a wheelchair to the Bangur Institute of Neurosciences for the MRI. Senior specialists were treating her as a medical team had been formed. The doctors are plugging the blood oozing out and they are trying to find the reason for her fall. She got two stitches on her head.

    Sources said that she had a deep cut injury on her forehead when she lost control in her room and while she fell her head hit the edge of a furniture.

    The CM's brother Kartick Banerjee said that she fell in her bedroom and her head was injured. She bled profusely and the doctors would check if there was any major hemorrhage. She is in a serious condition and though she is in her senses, Banerjee said.

    "She was in her bedroom and she fell suddenly, close to the bed. How it happened we are still clueless, as I was not at home. My wife Kajori accompanied her to the hospital."

    "I am not very clear how it happened. The degree of injury is yet to be ascertained. But the doctors said that she is not very critical."

    BJP state president Sukanata Majumdar posted on X for the speedy recovery of the CM. "Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health."

    Even vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar prayed for her speedy recovery along CM of Tamilnadu, MK Stalin also wished her speedy recovery.

    Several senior ministers including parliamentary affairs minister Shobhandeb Chatterjee, mayor Firhad Hakim, and speaker Biman Banerjee rushed to the hospital as the CM was hospitalized.
