• JU bags 1st prize at int’l convention

  • Kolkata: Jadavpur University has bagged the first prize in the engineering and technology category at the international student research convention ‘Anveshan’ organised by the Association of Indian Universities. JU also came third in basic sciences and social sciences, Humanities and commerce and law categories. The national-level finals were held at University of Mumbai.Each category had more than 15 universities participating.

    Pro-VC Amitava Datta said, “This competition is all about innovation. Our students have high innovation skills so they have excelled in this competition. Fostering the culture of innovation is done through the university’s innovation cell and we are laying more stress on the cell now with alumni support.”

    Suman Saha, Lakshman Sumana and Subhojit Dutta’s project on cost effective, flexible EMI shielding jacket for preventing adversative effect of microwave radiation won the first prize in the engineering and technology category.
