  • THE EASTERN India Motoring Group (EIMG) and the Dalhousie Institute (DI) jointly organised a heritage vehicle display event in Kolkata on Sunday. “This is the second time that the EIMG got together with DI in organising this,” eminent vintage car collector/restorer Shrivardhan Kanoria said on Monday.

As many as 65 heritage vehicles, handpicked by Kanoria, were part of the display. There were three categories of vehicles: vintage cars, classic cars and two-wheelers. Four vintage Rolls Royces, including two from Kanoria’s collection itself, were on show. One of these was first owned by the well-known Carnegie family and was a winner at the recent Oberoi Concours, a statement said.

The Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG) established in 2020, is a group of heritage vehicle owners, founded by Kanoria, who is also its president. He has inducted Subhajit Kumar, a veteran high speed rallyist, as EIMG secretary. Five-six heritage car events are organised every year by the EIMG in Kolkata.

The Dalhousie Institute was established in 1859 to promote the literary and scientific improvement of members, the statement said. The thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday was conducted by Kanoria, wherein he distributed mementos to the vehicle owners and other stakeholders. “With its grand success… from now on, the DI EIMG heritage vehicle display will be an annual affair,” said Kanoria.

The venue and decorations were hosted by DI, while the mementos and dinner for The Car Owners, were sponsored by Kanoria‘s restoration unit, ‘Concourz Restorations’, the statement added.
