  • Trinamool Congress (TMC) Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh on Saturday claimed the party did not know which organisations or persons donated money to it under the electoral bond scheme.

Talking to reporters, Ghosh said, “The Trinamool did not know how much money was given to it… A drop box used to be kept in front of the Trinamool building… According to the law introduced by the BJP, the bond would have no name, only an alphanumeric code. It was not said anywhere, which company or who the donor was. The BJP has introduced this system in the country. They knew who gave them money. Because they have the CBI, ED, Income tax and they used these agencies to accumulate that money but the TMC has no ED, CBI.”

Reacting to Ghosh’s statement, BJP leader Rahul Sinha said, “The TMC has gone mad and is making such weird arguments to hide its corruption.”

CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty said, “It is clear that the TMC used corporate houses to loot the public. They gave a free hand to the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation to increase the power tariff and told them to pay their part of the profit through electoral bonds. They also gave a free hand to lottery organisations and took money from them and the amount is more than Rs 500 crore.”
