Kolkata: A 42-year-old sub inspector, Animesh Bala, died while having dinner at Topsia police station in the early hours of Sunday. Police said Bala had just taken a break from night shift and was having a late dinner when he had suddenly collapsed on the table. He was taken to SSKM Hospital where he was declared dead.
A postmortem examination suggested that he had died of a cardiac arrest.
A 2009 batch officer, Bala had served at Posta and Jorabagan police stations before he was deputed at Topsia as an anti rowdy officer.
