• STF nabs 4 with ₹2.9 cr heroin, opium

  • Kolkata: The Bengal STF has arrested four persons over Thursday and Friday and seized contraband, together valued at Rs 2.9 crore. The Customs intelligence wing also seized drugs, valued at Rs 2 crore, from the port area in Kolkata.

    The STF, along with a team from GRP Howrah, on Friday arrested three persons from Khagraghat station near Behrampore, Murshidabad and seized two kg heroin, worth Rs 2 crore, from them.“Accused, Raza Khan (42), Sentu Sheikh (53) and Radha Bibi (39) are from Behrampore,” said SP (operations) Indrajit Basu. They had procured the heroin from Nagaland and were likely to sell it in Kolkata and other cities, cops said.

    On Thursday, the STF arrested a railway employee, Raju Mondal (39), from Ranaghat who had just got a parcel of opium on courier. He used the railway parcel rake network to run a drug cartel. Cops seized 9.1kg opium, valued at Rs 90 lakh.
