  • Kolkata: In a major success against the ongoing cryptocurrency Work From Home (WFH) frauds through Telegram app, the detective department has arrested a kingpin from Goa who had allegedly cheated a Kolkata resident of Rs 10 lakh.

The cyber cell arrested the accused, identified as Milind Gurudas Chari, from Dhatwara in south Goa from his residence and brought to Kolkata on transit remand after he duped a Kasba woman in the name of greater gains through time bound investments.‘Most of the Rs 9.4 lakh defrauded from the woman reached this man’s accounts,” said joint CP (crime) Syed Waquar Raza.

Obsessed with recovering her money, the complainant kept investing until the amount reached Rs 10 lakh.

"Plenty of people have stepped into such traps and continue to do so. When it comes to cyber crime, as we keep saying, prevention is better than cure. So at the risk of repeating ourselves yet again, this is to say that if an unknown someone is trying to tempt you with the lure of ‘easy money’, please recognise the trap. As we all know, money is never easy. Stay suspicious, stay safe,” wrote KP in its Facebook page.
