Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur granted divorce by Delhi HC citing cruelty from wife

Renowned and celebrated chef Kunal Kapur has been granted divorce by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday on grounds of “cruelty” by his wife. The Court said that the woman’s conduct towards Kapur was devoid of dignity and empathy.The celebrity chef sought divorce from a bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna on Tuesday. Kapur was one of the judges of the popular television show MasterChef India in 2016. “In the light of the afore-noted facts of the present case, we find that conduct of the respondent (wife) towards appellant (Kapur) has been such that it is devoid of dignity and empathy towards him,” the Bench stated.“When such is the nature of one spouse towards the other, it brings disgrace to the very essence of marriage and there exists no possible reason as to why he should be compelled to live while enduring the agony of living together,” it added.On the flip side, the chef’s wife all the allegations made against her and said that she had to give up her job for her husband and family.The couple got married in 2008 and they have a son who was born in 2012.
