  • Kolkata: A fake visa and international job racket was busted by Bidhannagar police operating from an office near Kolkata airport on Tuesday. The company, "Recruit World Private Limited," targeted innocent job seekers looking for high-paying jobs abroad. It promised them employment and offered other facilitations, including visas and air tickets.

In this case, an innocent job seeker from Bihar, Saddam Hussain, had met one of the company officials, Minurul, who had promised him placement in Dubai last year.“Hussain had paid him Rs 80,000 in two installments for registration, visa processing fees, and even a medical check-up at a city hospital. On Tuesday, he visited the company’s office at Sarat Colony near the airport, where he was told that, with the money he had paid, the company had managed to get a Malaysia visa for him. They demanded Rs 50,000 more for the Dubai visa,” said an official of the Airport police station.

Feeling duped, the youth walked into the Airport police station to lodge a complaint. Hussain further alleged that he saw numerous unemployed youths waiting for an interview conducted by the racket when he had visited the office. Based on his complaint, the cops immediately visited the office and arrested four persons – Rafi Ahamed (41) of Asansol, Abdullah Kafi (30) of Murshidabad, Firoz (45) of Kerala, and Dayanand Prasad (57) of Bihar – and seized multiple fake documents from their possession. All of them were charged under IPC sections related to cheating and forgery. The cops said further investigation is ongoing to trace other members of the gang.
