  • Kolkata: A six-year-old Nursery student, who had dozed off while travelling to her Kidderpore school in a schoolbus from Howrah, was rescued by Vidyasagar Traffic Guard officers from outside the institute on Friday.

“Neither the driver nor the attendant of the bus spotted her when they dropped other kids at the school. They then locked the bus and went to have breakfast. When the child woke up, she got scared and started to cry. The on-duty officers of Vidyasagar Traffic Guard heard the cries and rescued her,” said an officer.

The cops have asked the school to take action. “However, we have asked the owner, the driver and the attendant to report to us. We will ensure that the negligence is not repeated,” said an official at Lalbazar. They will also train the operators of school buses and pool cars on safety protocols. tnn
