Kolkata: A 50-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a goods vehicle when she was trying to cross the Bosepukur crossing on Rashbehari connector around 11.45am on Friday.
“The woman, Bharati Bhattacharya, a resident of Garfa Main Road, was trying to cross the road. Though there was no vehicle on the road at that point, the signal was green.There was not even a proper crossover option at the point where she was standing. As she took a few steps, the vehicle hit her. The driver has been arrested,” said an officer.
“Two kids were also standing there to cross the road. The homeguard had suggested them to cross from the main crossing a little ahead. While the children obliged, the woman refused to do so,” said an officer. tnn
