• KP launches no-honk drive near schools

  • Kolkata: Kolkata Traffic Police kick-started its anti-honking campaign on Saturday, a drive they wish to continue outside schools just like its ongoing drive outside hospitals.

    Cops said with the new academic session now back in full swing, the anti-pollution cell will levying fines on motorists honking outside schools and hospitals.

    “While raids outside hospitals have become a daily affair, we now plan to rope in school students once the summer heat becomes more bearable.They will inspire their guardians to avoid using horns and follow other traffic rules,” added an officer.

    “We have decided to record the sounds so that we have proof when challenged. The no-honking fine, according to the prevailing amended Motor Vehicles Rules, stands at Rs 1,000,” said an officer.
