  • Kolkata: A 48-year-old man, who was a driver at the Enforcement Directorate office located in Salt Lake, died after being hit by a speeding car on Biswa Bangla Sarani at Pyanchar More on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Bappa Ghosh, was a resident of Picnic Garden. He was riding his two-wheeler and moving towards the Airport when his vehicle was hit from behind by a car that allegedly belongs to a doctor.

The doctor’s driver was at the wheels while the doctor was in the passenger seat. The Eco Park police has registered a case of ‘death due to rash and negligent driving’ and has arrested the driver.

Cops said Ghosh was thrown off his seat due to the collision and he landed on a fence with his neck taking the maximum impact. He died on the spot.

“While we are still trying to get some footage of the accident, it appears that the car was speeding,” said an investigating officer.
