The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the recruitment irregularities in Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) area (Darjeeling hills).
The direction from the High Court came after a mysterious letter was found alleging irregularities in the recruitment of teachers in the hill areas of north Bengal.
The High Court has directed the CBI to submit a report to the court within 15 days after checking the authenticity of the letter.
Earlier, a single bench of Justice Biswajit Basu had ordered a CID probe into the matter. However, so far, an FIR was not registered based on the complaints lodged by the state Education Department.
The court also asked the Bidhannagar Police to submit an affidavit stating why the FIR was not lodged, despite receiving a complaint from the education department.
