• HR executive loses ₹1.5L in WFH fraud

  • Kolkata: An HR executive, living in a condo at Survey Park off EM Bypass, fell victim to a work-from-home fraud and lost Rs 1.5 lakh.

    The victim, a mother of a Class-IX student, said she had appeared “for an interview” and was “selected” for the job. In her “interview” round, she was asked to search for a person on Telegram, a “test” she failed. The interviewer said it would be her assignment to “fetch new clients” and so, the test.Asked to review hotels, she initially invested Rs 7,000 to maximize her incentives. She was also “assigned” a “prepaid” task of investing money to get high returns. “It took the woman a while to realise her employers were actually thieves,” said an East division officer.
