• Heatwave alert for many South Bengal districts

  • South Bengal districts, including Kolkata, are set to experience hot and humid climate, leading to potential heat waves in the region, the weather department said on Monday.

    As per the meteorological department report, daytime (maximum) temperatures will be 2-4 degrees Celsius above normal, in the districts of South Bengal over the next 4-5 days. Humidity levels are likely to exceed 40% during the peak hours of the day.

    Forecast indicated humid, uncomfortable weather in South Bengal from Monday to Thursday. Heatwave conditions are anticipated in Puraba and Paschim Midnapore, Jhargram, South 24 Parganas, Purulia, Bankura, Puraba and Paschim Burdwan districts on Wednesday and Thursday.

    The weather office has advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities between 11 am to 4 pm, stay hydrated.
