• Vadodara traffic police uses AC helmets to beat brutal summer heat

  • Amid blistering heatwave owing to soaring temperatures across India, Gujarat’s Vadodara Police have started wearing air-conditioned (AC) helmets to tackle excessive heatwave. This decision has been made after one of police personnel fainted while on duty during record temperatures of 40-42 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Vadodara stood at 38 degrees Celsius on Thursday.Designed by students of IIM Vadodara, these helmets run on batteries and provide cooling effect for up to eight hours upon full charge. They also shield the eyes from scorching sunlight. On having received those helmets, traffic police have reported improved comfort and efficiency in performing duties. Videos of police personnel wearing AC helmets while on duty have gone viral on social media and netizens have praised the initiative undertaken by students of the varsity.The similar initiative has also been introduced for Ahmedabad and Kanpur traffic police officials last year.
