Kolkata: The city cops will act against those social media handles who have refused to take down fake posts despite police notices.
The cops stated that they have sent notice to nine ‘X’ users – and a social media group – for posting objectionable and fake Ram Navami videos and CM Mamata Banerjee memes to incite people.
“While in 85% of cases the users have deleted their tweets and FB posts, around 15% have not bothered to take note of our action.We are writing to relevant authorities to take down these videos and delete the accounts. We plan to lodge FIRs when we find they are engaged by specific IT cells,” said a detective department officer. tnn
