  • Several parts in southern West Bengal are reeling under heatwave and the MeT department on Friday predicted more severe conditions in the next few days, with the maximum temperature likely to rise by another one to three degrees Celsius.

Kolkata recorded a maximum of 40 degree temperature with 89% humidity on Friday, and “might cross 40 degrees in next 2-3 days,” an official said.

According to a MeT official statement, “Rise in day temperature by 1-3 degree Celsius during next three days and no larger changes thereafter over Gangetic West Bengal.”

Amid heatwave conditions in Kolkata, the Metro authorities have ensured the availability of drinking water at stations along the Green Line.
