  • Kolkata: Around 4.5lakh passengers travelled from the 26 stations of the North-South Metro to the newly launched Esplanade-Howrah Maidan stretch of the East-West Metro in the first fortnight of the latter’s launch on March 15.

    The above data was released by Metro Railway, which runs the city’s mass rapid transit network, on Sunday. On Wednesday, Metro released another data of the same period (March 15-31), saying 4.6lakh people journeyed from East-West Metro’s Esplanade-Howrah Maidan stretch to various stations of the North-South line.The two Metro lines meet at Esplanade.

    Around 21,600 passengers travelled from Dum Dum, 20,000-odd from Rabindra Sadan, around 19,000 from Kalighat and 12,100 from New Garia to the new East-West line, Metro said on Sunday. TNN
