During Duff’s birth anniversary event on Friday, Bishop Paritosh Canning said, “The 194-year-old institution is opening its doors to girls in the HS section on a day, which is significant as it is the birth anniversary of Alexander Duff, founder of this institute.” The school was founded on July 13, 1830, by Duff, the first overseas missionary of Church of Scotland to India.

School principal Bibhas Sanyal said, “We have started a pre-primary and primary section on the Duff Street campus. Another decision was taken to admit girls, along with boys, in HS.” “We allowed the girls to take provisional admission and the actual process will started after Madhyamik results,” he said.

Srija Roy, who has taken provisional admission in Arts, said, “After my father and grandfather, I will be the third generation to study here. I am a Holy Child student. It’s such a relief to have already got a Plus-II admission before Madhyamik results are out.”
