Kolkata: A 75-year-old retired bank employee’s decomposed body was found in the basement of an elevator cavity at a Sodepur apartment on Thursday morning.
Police suspect the elderly man, identified as Paritosh Dey, who used to live alone in a third-floor flat of Sukhchar Apartment at ward 2 of Panihati Municipality, died after accidentally falling down the lift shaft three days ago and getting trapped under the lift.He had gone missing from his flat on Monday.
“His body was lying in the elevator shaft for three days. An investigation has been started and we are speaking to the management authorities, after which a case of death due to negligence against persons concerned will be registered,” a senior cop of Barrackpore commissionerate said.
