  • Kolkata: Wheelchair-bound student of South City International School, Taiba Alam, secured 84.2% in ICSE, overcoming her congenital disability which has made her legs so weak. She can neither walk nor stand up. For Taiba, most of her days are spent in a wheelchair.

She spoke about how she faced social isolation and strange looks for being wheel-chair bound.“Initially, I felt sad but I decided not to take this to heart. Instead I focused on my strengths and started pursuing what I do best,” said Alam.

Her greatest support system has been her mother and father. Her hobbies include gaming, reading books, and cooking delicious food.

“I take interest in a lot of subjects like psychology, English, history, Hindi. I have scored good marks in English. I want to become a psychiatrist,” she added.
