Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Thursday refused to accept a plea challenging a state advisory to state universities which put certain restrictions on them.
A division bench of Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya ruled that the state could issue advisories, which are guidelines and not a rule.
The high court said challenge to the advisory cannot be entertained.
The petition argued that by issuing such an advisory state wanted to forfeit the autonomy of the universities.
