  • Kolkata: A student of South Point School, Pushkal Halder, scored an impressive 90.4% in the CBSE Class XII boards despite undergoing an emergency operation in the middle of the exams.

“My exam was scheduled on Thursday but from Saturday night I developed an excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. My doctor advised me to undergo a surgery but since my exam was on Thursday, I was put on painkillers,” said Halder, who had Science in Class XII.

He recalled the discomfort that he faced while taking his English exam on Thursday. “I was determined to appear for the exam but it was difficult for me as a change in posture would often increase the pain,” added Halder. After his English exam, he was admitted to a hospital and had to undergo surgery the next day.

“I appeared for my chemistry exam four days after my surgery. It was not easy as I was still recovering from the surgery. I took the exam from the sick room where the staff ensured my well being,” said Halder.

His mother thanked South Point School for their unwavering support. “Special arrangements were made at Haryana Vidya Mandir, his exam center. Our car would enter the school premises and then they would provide him with a wheelchair,” she said.

Halder aspires to take up either engineering or fashion designing in the future.
