  • Kolkata: The proprietor of a private firm, Manish Kumar Agarwal, was arrested from a Lake Town condo on Tuesday for allegedly duping a public sector bank in the Park Street area over a Rs 70 lakh loan. The case was recorded on the basis of a complaint by Dhirendra Kumar, chief manager of Punjab and Sind bank’s Lindsay Street branch. “ Agarwal had prepared a forged title deed in 2020 to avail of a business loan of Rs 70 lakh against hypothecation of assets of his business.The loan was sanctioned on Dec 8, 2020. The bank realized it was fraud and lodged an FIR. Agarwal was produced in court on Wednesday and sent to police custody till May 22,” said additional CP (I) Murlidhar Sharma. tnn
