Kolkata: At least two persons — one a resident of Garia and another a woman from Narayanpur—were recently duped when they tried to book a doctor’s appointment by calling a number they got from the internet.
Both were asked to click on a link and pay just Rs 5 after they had contacted the “personal assistant” of the doctor. They did so immediately. However, the woman discovered that not only Rs 5, but an additional Rs 57,000 had disappeared from her account.The man, similarly, ended up losing Rs 36,000. However, the cops have been able to make complete recoveries in both occasions. tnn
