West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee mourns loss of lives, assures state help

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday promised all possible help by state govt to those affected by Cyclone Remal, reports Dwaipayan Ghosh. The CM mourned for lives lost and said that she would conduct an aerial survey to assess the damages.
Administration would look into compensation at the earliest, she said, and added that she would address the issues in detail once the Model Code of Conduct was off.Banerjee praised the administration for safely evacuating over 2 lakh people to 1,400 shelters, reducing loss of life.
“I know you’re worried, but we are with you. Being a land of rivers, Bengal faces cyclones originating in the Bay of Bengal every year. The disaster management centre is working 24x7 and I am coordinating with them,” Banerjee said.
