  • Kolkata: A delay in publishing class XI textbooks due to the ongoing elections has prompted the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) to upload soft copies of language textbooks on their website. This will ensure that the non-availability of physical textbooks does not hamper studies.

The council is required to publish new textbooks due to changes in the curriculum and introduction of the semester system from the current academic session. The notice issued by the council said that since language books were not available yet and there being considerable changes in the curriculum, “we are uploading the textual components of all language papers on the council’s website”.

The delay in printing at the state-owned Saraswati Press was because of the unit’s pre-occupation with poll-related work orders. The new batch of the semester system for class XI will start physical classes from June 10, when schools reopen after the summer vacation.
