  • NEW DELHI: Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 26, during the fourth phase of elections and registered 73.27% voter turnout.

    Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 42 parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal, is currently represented by INC's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

    Pathan, who is considered an outsider, drew a comparison with Prime Minister Modi's situation.He said, "Narendra Modi is from Gujarat but contests from Varanasi, so what's the problem if I contest from here (Bengal)," as TMC workers welcomed him warmly.

    Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has represented the Baharampur constituency in the Lok Sabha since 1999, winning five consecutive elections.

    In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Chowdhury secured a significant 45.47% of the votes, defeating AITC's Apurba Sarkar (David) with a margin of 591,147 votes. This General category parliament seat encompasses a portion of the Murshidabad district. It is a General category parliament seat and comprises part of Murshidabad district .

    In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the INC emerged victorious, while Indranil Sen from the AITC secured the second position.
