In the 2019 elections, Jyotirmay Singh Mahato of the Bharatiya Janata Party won a decisive victory in Purulia, defeating Mriganka Mahato of the All India Trinamool Congress by a margin of 204,732 votes, which was 15.11% of the total votes cast.
