NEW DELHI: Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 26, during the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections and recorded a voter turnout of 80.72%.
Burdwan-Durgapur parliamentary constituency in West Bengal witnessed a significant political battle in the 2014 elections. With a total of 1,583,495 registered voters and 1,331,242 valid votes cast, Dr.Mamtaz Sanghamita of the All India Trinamool Congress emerged victorious. She secured 554,521 votes, defeating her closest rival, Sk Saidul Haque of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), by a margin of 107,331 votes.

In the previous election held in 2009, the constituency had 1,353,380 electors and 1,135,028 valid votes. Sk Saidul Haque of the CPI(M) had won the seat with 573,399 votes, defeating Nargis Begum of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 108,237 votes.

The Trinamool Congress, which had previously held a strong position in the constituency, managed to retain the seat in 2014 through Mamtaz Sanghamita's victory.
The All India Trinamool Congress has nominated Azad Kirti Jha as their candidate, while the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Dilip Ghosh.
