Narendra Modi will now take oath as the Prime Minister on Sunday evening (June 9) for the third consecutive year. Sources earlier expected that the swearing-in ceremony might be held on Saturday, becoming the second leader after Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to come back to power. Invitations for the event has been sent to leaders of the neighbouring countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe will attend the ceremony.Meanwhile, Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck will also attend the swearing-in ceremony. Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth is also expected to be present at the event.The BJP in coalition with NDA emerged victorious in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
