Kolkata: Days after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha polls, the state govt on Monday appointed Purnendu Majhi as the new district magistrate (DM) of East Midnapore in place of Joyoshi Dasgupta. This is the second stint of Majhi as the DM of East Midnapore.
Dasgupta has been transferred to the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Dept as OSD (Officer on Special Duty).A source said Dasgupta was earlier posted as East Midnapore DM after EC wanted the removal of four WBCS (ex) officials who were DMs. Incidentally, BJP won both Contai and Tamluk in the LS polls. BJP youth state president Indranil Khan criticised the move on social media and said that Dasgupta was removed as BJP won both seats. tnn
