Kolkata: Kolkata Traffic Police has announced temporary shutdown of the Chetla Bridge on Sunday night to allow KMDA to carry out load testing of the structure. The KMDA said the test results would be crucial for repair work planned for this bridge.
The bridge will be closed to traffic between 11 pm on Sunday and 7 am on Monday.
“KMDA plans to conduct the load test (both static and dynamic) on Chetla RCC Bridge over Tolly’s Nullah, near Keoratala Maha Sasan for repair and retrofitting works and for preparation of a DPR undertaken by KMDA,” said DC (Traffic) SJ Yeliwad.
East-bound vehicles of Chetla Central Road will be diverted from Chetla Central Road and Rakhal Das Auddy Road crossing towards Rakhal Das Auddy Road to avail Judges Court Road. West-bound vehicles of R B Avenue will be diverted fromR B Avenue and Pratapaditya Road crossing to avail Pratapaditya Road or Sadananda Road.
