According to the police, Moin Mollah, the area president of Dakshin Gangadharpur of the Mathurapur Lok Sabha constituency, was stabbed and injured after he attended the meeting at the cooperative building held to discuss the Lok Sabha election 2024 result.
The police said Mollah was allegedly attacked by an Indian Secular Front (ISF) supporter with a sharp weapon. However, other TMC supporters caught him, and handed him over to Golaghat Police Station.
Bapi Haldar, Mathurapur TMC MP, said, “The ISF is continuously attacking our supporters. They do not believe in democracy. That is why they can not digest the defeat.”
However, ISF denied the charge. According to ISF, they got a huge vote from this area and the ruling party is trying to frame their supporters.
Amid allegations of post-poll violence in the state, the Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has said hundreds of its workers have left their homes and villages after the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and accused the ruling Trinamool Congress. The TMC, on its part, has denied accusations that it was involved in any attack on BJP workers.
