  • PUNE: Akasa Air's flight to Kolkata was delayed by nearly seven hours on Wednesday, leaving over 100 passengers stranded at the city airport. The flight (QP-1563) was scheduled to take off from Pune at 1.05pm.

Ashish Yadav, booked in the flight with his pregnant sister, said he got the information about its delay after reaching the airport. "It was really frustrating because it took us around two hours to reach the airport from her house in Hinjewadi Phase-2.

I requested the airline staffers for an accommodation nearby because my sister is pregnant, but we did not get any help despite waiting for around two hours. Finally, we headed back home. We are going back to the airport in the evening because the flight's revised departure time is 7.50pm. We will reach Kolkata around midnight and our home is far from the airport there," Yadav said around 5.30pm.

TOI sent a mail and a WhatsApp message to the airline's spokesperson seeking reasons behind the flight's delay. An official reply was awaited till going to press. The airline told TOI on X, that a technical issue was the cause of the delay.
