Police stop BJP’s Suvendu from entering Raj Bhavan with ‘poll violence victims’

Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, along with the alleged victims of the post-poll violence in West Bengal, was stopped by police from entering the premises of the Raj Bhavan and meeting Governor C V Ananda Bose on Thursday, citing Section 144 of the CrPC.The BJP leader said: “The TMC government cannot act in such an authoritarian manner. As the police looks after the premises outside the Raj Bhavan, it stopped us. I will move Calcutta High Court … I waited for more than one hour, but the police did not allow us inside the Raj Bhavan. The Governor gave me an appointment, but the police violated his instructions. I also communicated this to the Governor’s office.”
