  • A special Indian Air Force plane, C-130J, carrying mortal remains of 45 Indians who were killed in the fire incident in Kuwait’s Mangaf, landed safely at Cochin International Airport at 10:30 am on Friday. Minister of state for external affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh was onboard the aircraft. He reached Kuwait today morning and ensured hassle-free coordination with the Kuwaiti authorities for swift repatriation, the Indian embassy said.Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also arrived at the airport soon after the aircraft landed. The mortal remains were later handed over to the families of the deceased.Kuwaiti authorities identified the bodies of 45 Indian victims and three Filipino nationals killed after a seven-storey building caught massive fire in Kuwait’s Mangaf city on Wednesday. The devastating fire incident killed at least 49 migrant workers and 50 others sustained injuries from the blaze. Kuwaiti fire personnel informed that the deadly incident was caused by an electrical circuit. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti authorities have conducted DNA tests on the bodies as part of the identification process. Kuwait"s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah has has announced a financial assistance to the families of the deceased, without mentioning the amount of the compensation.
