Kolkata: Two persons, Subrajit Chowdhury and Abhishek Chowdhury, have been arrested from Delhi for cloning a senior Trinamool leader’s phone. They have been remanded in police custody till June 21 by a city court on Friday.
According to the complaint, last Friday the Raiganj Municipality vice-chairperson got a call from a number which had the display photograph of a senior Trinamool leader.The phone number was also the one which the leader uses for his official work. The caller, however, was a female, who identified herself as Sofia Chowdhury. She sought the civic officer’s help to resolve a property dispute. Shakespeare Sarani PS lodged an FIR after being alerted. Subhrajit told the cops that after being denied his ancestral property, he hacked the phone with his friend.
Cops are investigating if the duo was involved in any other similar crimes.
