  • KOLKATA: State education minister Bratya Basu on Saturday said governors like Bengal’s C V Ananda Bose, Punjab’s Banwarilal Purohit and Kerala’s Arif Mohammed Khan were part of an “unmitigated disaster” plaguing the higher education of the states. “Higher education has been plagued by an unmitigated disaster. In Punjab, the name of the disaster is Banwarilal Purohit, in Kerala it is Arif Mohammed, and in Bengal, it is C V Ananda Bose. But their exits from different states are approaching soon,” said Basu.

Basu was speaking at a career education fair attended by students, educationists and teachers. “False saffronisation attempts were made by these nominated people (governors). But their efforts to bring about a disaster have failed miserably and this circle will also come to an end,” he said.

He said that the people of India, who could not be fooled in the name of religion, proved that the Constitution could not be tampered with. “The people of our country have sent out a message of unity and diversity loud and clear. The black signs of disaster are on their way to the exit,” Basu added.
