The Left has already announced its candidates in three constituencies, where CPI(M) will field Arindam Biswas and Rajib Majumder in Ranaghat Dakshin and Manicktala respectively, while Forward bloc has picked Gouraditya Biswas for Bagdah Assembly constituency.

According to a senior Congress leader, party’s Uttar Dinajpur district president Mohit Sengupta may file his nomination for Ranigunj. “We are happy that the Left Front gave us Ranigunj seat. However it will be finalised by our high command,” he said.

Meanwhile the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has already announced their candidates for the four assembly seats. The party has made their unsuccessful candidates in Lok Sabha elections – Krishna Kalyani and Mukut Mani Adhikari – for Raniganj and Ranaghat Dakshin respectively. In Maniktala, the TMC has fielded Supti Pandey, wife of the late minister Sadhan Pandey, while in Bagdah it has picked Madhuparna Thakur, daughter of their Rajya Sabha MP Mamatabala Thakur.
